A gift art from
Story by me.
I was feeling claustrophobic--the panic level rising as I heard a steady thud, thud, thud above me. I remembered the night's discussions; and the pain when my answers were not to her satisfaction. Opening my eyes my anxiety grew even more as I realized I had been placed into a sealed glass coffin and laid in a deep grave. Above me, Books Bratt grinned in a frightful rictus.
"I know you're awake White Owl!" I heard a voice in my ear. I felt the earbud and pressed it closer. Anothe shovel full of Verdant clay landed on my coffin.
"I had such hopes for you...for us!" Books hissed, through the exertion. "You were perhaps the only heroine who would have understood out loneliness, whose mind was a match for mine. But you wouldn't listen, you couldn't see reason and worst of all, you rejected me. Your coffin is made of the same glass the space program uses for its shuttles and space station. Its nearly unbreakable. You're trapped forever!"
There was silence as the earth continued to land above me. Then a pause, and I could see her standing above me; beautiful and terrible in the moonlight.
"I...I think I could have loved you White Owl," she said. "But my sisters may be right; that we can only trust each other. So I am burying my emotions and any emotional ties I have for you. Good Bye Forever White Owl."
