Busting Free

I woke in pain and confusion from the tranquilizer VIPER had used against me.  My muscles were slow and unresponsive as I took in the dirty lab.  I was fastened to an exam table and a large, evil looking beam weapon was posed at me.

"Ahh you're awake," smiled a young VIPER agent in both the VIPER jumpsuit and wearing a white lab coat.  "R and D has your belt, but it's MY job to see how tough you are.  Now that you're awake I can begin."

I noticed the less than intelligent trooper standing guard.  He was bored, and definitely not alert.  I flexed my fists, tugging gently on the restraints holding me down as the scientist toggled a few switches.  "There, that should do it," she declared.  "Are you ready?" she asked with a pixie like smile.

The ray sparked and a bright blue beam shot out, hitting me squarely in the chest.  I grimaced in pain, but my resolve held and with a wrenching groan I pulled my right wrist free, snapping the thin cable attaching the shackle to the table.

"Look out!" shouted the guard.  "She's breaking free!"

"Stop her, you fool!" shouted the scientist, trying desperately to protect her equipment.
